Treatment
- The procedure usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.
- Intravenous (IV) anethesia will be given to ensure pain-free treatment.
- Fluoroscopic x-ray or ultrasound imaging will be used to locate and focus on the stone.
- An hour-long rest period is required before patient discharge (driving immediately after is prohibited)
- Food intake is allowed once the patient is awake.

Preparation
- Stop taking aspirin or any blood-thinning medication one week before.
- Do not drink alcohol the night before.
- Take phosphosoda mixed with one glass of juice or two Dulcolax suppositories the night before.
- Do not eat or drink or smoke six hours before.
- You are required to have an accompanying adult with you on the day of your treatment.
